On Election Day, I was riding the high of knowing that the Democrats had taken the House. Last night, I not only got to do a happy dance for the resignation of Donald Rumsfeld, but also the fact that we took the Senate as well. Dubya's House of Cards is falling. For the first time in six years, I am starting to feel some hope for this Country again.
All this is a little bittersweet, because I would have liked to have seen Dr. Bob and Karl Williams win their races as well, but it just means that we still have work to do. I see it like this though....any time that I spent volunteering for the Johnson campaign was not time wasted simply because he did not win the election. The heart and hard work that Dr. Johnson put into this campaign, the pure will to put himself out there, not to be a politician or to get recognition, but to try to bring a change and to make a difference, makes it all worth it and I will do it all over again should he run again.
Now from here, we move along. It doesn't end here. Now is the time to remember that our elected leaders need to hear from us. With this election, our voice was heard that as a Nation, we aren't happy with how things were going, but just because the Democrats are in power doesn't mean that they won't need a proverbial foot in the ass from time to time should we start to feel that they aren't listening to us.
Our voice needs to continue to be heard.....
